Ras Angela

These photos are from a nice little beach about one hour north of Tunis:

Some fish and squid cought by Armand, who has skillz, ya hear me, skillz:

This is the shell of a sea creature after we cut it open and ate its orange whatchamacallits. Not entirely lacking in taste, but a definite WTF factor.

And finally, a close-up of one of the squids. Not sure if it's angrier about the decorative shell I put on its head, or about the fact that it's, you know, dead.

Very cool stuff Toni.
The creature with WTF factor we call "iriq deti", they are very common down from Vlora bay...on the Ionian coast. We used to dive down to the bottom and loosen em up from the rocks they attach on with knives.. I was never sure how they cooked them though.

Ahhh that's what that is! You just prompted me to ask someone here what it's called in French and translated that into English - apparently it's a sea urchin. I'm sure everyone knew that already; I'm wicked retahded. For the non-albanians, "iriq deti" translates to "sea hedgehog".

As far as cooking them, here they don't - they cut them open, remove most of the... stuff, and eat some orange matter which sticks to the sides of the shell. Mmmmm, orange matter...
